There are a lot of ways to get involved as a volunteer at Beach Elementary. To volunteer inside the school, PPS requires a background check. It’s a simple process and the background check is valid for 3 years. This process can be completed at www.pps.net/volunteer.
Opportunities to Engage
- Room volunteers - Each classroom has a designated volunteer who assists the teacher. If this is something you're interested in, please email BCUVolunteering@gmail.com with your name and the grade/classroom you'd like to volunteer for.
- Recess support - Recess volunteers promote kind words and fair play, engage kids in a game, and use paper rock scissors to solve conflicts. You can sign up for a recess shift HERE on Sign Up Genius. Please check in at the office before going out to the black top or field for your shift.
- Garden volunteers - Help prepare gardens for SUN school and classroom use. Every Wednesday afternoon during the school year between 1pm and 3pm, volunteers gather by the veggie, pollinator, and raised bed gardens. Because this is during school hours, you will need to have completed the PPS Volunteer Background Check and must check in with the office before heading to the gardens.
- Ground and garden work parties. Want to lead a weekend or after school work party (with the general Beach community or with a targeted community such as your coworkers)? We can help get you set up! There's a lot we can do together to make the grounds and gardens more safe, inviting, and supportive of students and staff.
